Everyone thinks that upgrade the software is very simple and easy by comparing MS products like Word, Excel etc. But when we are using the real time tools like Pega, it is not that much easy to upgrade from one version to other. Some upgrades may require 6 mons or more and some of them may require less than a month too. It all depends on the application size.There should be a proper plan required to do upgrade process. Here are some of the observations or challenges which I found during upgrade of Pega from V5.1 to V5.5. Size of the application: As the size of the application or the number of rules is high, the migration of application from older version to newer version is a time taking and we have to be very careful. Keep a list of the rules and compare them after migration and check the rule count. It is not at all an easy task to refer a good candidate for any organization. As I am into the recruitment since 2006, I am still improving myself in my selection process. Off course, no one is 100% perfect in any area. Anyways, perfection is a different story and I don't bring this topic in this context. The way I select a candidate from the interview is mainly based on his foundation/basic skills. If the foundation is not strong then there is no way to build a house on it in general. Similarly, in recruitment also, if a candidate is strong in foundation then he/she should pick the right things on right time. Once after the basic concepts are good from a candidate then I usually go a little deeper into the subject. With this approach, we will ask some practical scenarios, concepts/topics to see how good the candidate is.
